A Double Celebration: Our evenings at Two Prestigious Award Ceremonies

Updated: 6 days ago

It’s been an incredibly exciting few weeks for us here at Nickel Support, as we had the privilege of attending not one, but two prestigious award ceremonies!

Ashley Walsh and Nick Walsh representing Nickel Support at the Disability Power 100 Awards ceremony.

First up was the Disability Power 100. Each year, this event celebrates the most influential disabled individuals and organizations in the UK, recognizing those who are leading in their fields, making a difference, and reshaping societal perceptions of disability. We were truly honoured to be named as Change Making Organisation among such remarkable leaders, especially given that we were nominated by the public. It was an inspiring evening filled with incredible stories and achievements, and just being in the same room with so many dedicated individuals was a reward in itself. To be recognised on a national level is something we are immensely proud of!

Nickel Support Co Founders Nick Walsh and Elena Nicola collect their Sutton Community Award on behalf of the whole team.

The excitement didn’t stop there. We were also thrilled to win the Outstanding Voluntary and Community Sector Organization of the Year at the Sutton Community Awards. The competition was incredibly tough, with outstanding organisations like Playwise in the running. To win was an incredible honour, and we are still beaming! Awards like this make us even more committed to continuing to make a positive impact.

We couldn’t have received this recognition without the incredible team we have, the amazing community of trainees we serve, and the unwavering support of their parents and carers. These awards are a reflection of the collective effort we all put into creating meaningful change. Here’s to more achievements and collaborations in the year ahead!
